The 3rd International Summer Course & ISFCI 2019 Recap
Although everyone knows that I love using English on my writings (and sometimes on my daily conversation)—talking in English to people from other countries for 10 days straight turned out to be a whole different level.
Well, that's one of the things I've learned from The 3rd International Summer Course which was held by my department on July 28th - August 7th 2019. The program itself was joined by 14 overseas students from Malaysia (10 from Universiti Putra Malaysia, 1 from Universiti Teknologi MARA), Thailand (2 from Mahidol University), and South Korea (1 from Seoul National University), plus 8 locals a.k.a IPB students which also worked asdouble agents Liaison Officers for the latter.
It was such a nice experience that I don't wanna forget every single thing about it. So, that's why I'm here, writing a recap of The 3rd International Summer Course as well as The 2nd International Seminar on Family and Consumer Issues (plus International Competition on Family and Consumer Sciences)!

July 28th, 2019
- Welcoming participants from Malaysia and Thailand on the afternoon.
- Going to the airport to pick up the participant from South Korea andddd finally met her at 00.30 am, July 29th lollll
- Opening ceremony
- In class lectures about family in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, and also about urban farming. What I got from these classes: in Thailand they start to get married at 30 years old, and that's also in Korea! Meanwhile in Indonesia if you have no husband/wife at that age, you'll get bunch and bunch questions on Raya day.
- Campus tour
July 30th
- In class lectures. We did a group task in two of the classes! My teammates were P'Cheun from Thailand, Jeehoon from South Korea, and also Octa from
FranceIndonesia.

July 31th
- Going to Jakarta at 5.10 am!!!! DUDE I was so afraid I would oversleep so I woke every 1 hour the night before. We went to Dinas Ketahanan Pangan, Kelautan dan Pertanian (DKPKP) Jakarta Province.
- Hydroponic Valley!
- Back to Bogor and visited Situ Gede. This was when P'Nut said that the way you read Bahasa is the same like Spanish!
August 1st
- Visiting Kelompok Wanita Tani Seruni Indah, Kebayoran, Jakarta. We drank "synthetic avocado" juice which was made from pakcoy, tape, and condensed milk!
- Interviewing a member of Kelompok Wanita Tani Seruni Indah with my teammates. In this summer course, we have to make a scientific poster based on the interviews.
- This one is worth mentioning: we had a convo within the participants and learned how to online-laugh in Korea (kkkkkkkkkkk), Thailand (555555555555), and Indonesia (you tell me).
- Because we had plenty of times left, we went to Kota Tua!
August 2nd
- Visiting Kelompok Wanita Tani Cempaka, Bogor. From this visitation, we know that woman farmer groups in Bogor should plant at least these 7 herbs: bunga teleng, binahong, ginger, chili, jinten putih, andddd I forget the rest......... I only remember one of the them is used to go away the evil spirit........... Oh, and we also did an interview for our scientific poster.
- Another visit to KWT, this time it was Kelompok Wanita Tani Kentagor, Bogor.
- Doing poster... This was the time when I realized that I should've learned every language in the world lol because in our team, there were 2 locals and 2 foreigners but no Malaysian... The Malaysian participants usually become the bridge between us because they can understand Bahasa a bit and also excellent in English. But anyway, we've overcame that obstacle heheh!
- FINISHING POSTERRRRR. This poster was submitted to International Competition on Family and Consumer Sciences.
- Free time! The participants went to Kebun Raya Bogor but I didn't join them because I wanted to go home heheheheheheheh.
August 5th
- 1st day of The 2nd International Seminar on Family and Consumer Issues. If I'm not mistaken, that was my first time going to international seminar. And I REALLY loved it, I got so much knowledge and realized that my major, Family and Consumer Sciences, plays a big part in making a better future for Indonesia and the world.

August 6th
- 2nd day of The 2nd International Seminar on Family and Consumer Issues! We presented the posters that we had made. My team's presentation was so funny HAHAH Cheun was the one who presented it in front of the judge (Prof. John Brady from Seoul National University). When Mr. Brady asked her a question, she didn't quite get what he was saying so Jeehoon repeated it for her. P'Nut + Kiki from other team then came in the rescue. Nut translated the whole question in Thai, but in the end I was the one who answered the question because the question was related to the interview which was done in Bahasa... On the bright side, I think this was why our team chosen as Favorite Winner!!!!!!!

Andddddddd that was all. 10 days with them were so precious and writing this post actually makes me sad because it was already over. Well, I hope someday we all will meet again!
